Portfolio Development

Creating a strong art portfolio is crucial for pre-college students who are interested pursuing a career in arts. Your portfolio should showcase your unique style and skills, while also demonstrating your ability to think creatively and solve problems. With guidance, you can develop a portfolio that will impress college admissions officers and set you on a path to success.

The Home Test

Your Portfolio Contents

College portfolios include a "Home Test" - a set of required projects that colleges want to see.  An applicant should be able to demonstrate the skillsets that they are looking for in these projects.
Our goal is to create good concepts, highlight your skills, and develop good submission projects to meet the needs of your home test.

Writing About Yourself

The written part of your Portfolio

The writing assignments your college might require you to complete include bios, artist statements, and/or statements of intent. Our sessions will cover these topics as well as develop clear portfolio statements that reflect your character and vision. The written assignments are just as important as the visual assignments because writing organizes your thoughts and clarifies abstract ideas.

Photographing Your Work

Documenting and formatting your Portfolio

When you have completed your portfolio, you should take good pictures of the work you have done.  If you are applying to a college, they may even have specific requirements how the should look, what image file size and type to use. You will learn all of these requirements and how to properly take pictures of your work in a way that reflects your professionalism and high standards.
